Think of the private sale as an exclusive VIP “pre-sale,” while the bi-annual sale is open to the public.

Although the bi-annual sales are open to the public, they are pretty hush-hush.

How to Get Access to the Chanel Private Sale
Gaining entry to the private sale is a matter of receiving a coveted invitation from Chanel.
These exclusive invitations are extended to top-tier clients, celebrities, and loyal clientele who have demonstrated a significant commitment ($$$$$) to the brand.
The only way to gain access to a Chanel private sale or pre-sale is to become an overnight celebrity a valued customer.
Unfortunately, I can’t tell you the magic number of handbags you need to buy or the dollar amount to spend, as I am not sure of these figures.
Simply put: you must make substantial purchases at Chanel boutiques or online.
My best advice is to start developing a relationship with an SA (sales associate/advisor) ASAP!
Generally, VIP customers are invited to sales via email or a phone call a few days before the sale begins.
Therefore, it’s key to develop and maintain a relationship with your SA while keeping an eye on your inbox & phone during the sale seasons.

What to Expect at a Chanel Sale
The stock available at the sales heavily depends on the store’s location and the season in which the sale is held.
Generally, you can find seasonal ready-to-wear items, accessories, bags, SLGs (small leather goods), and shoes on sale.
Recently, there has been less stock of bags and leather goods.
Sale items consist of the previous season’s collection, which means you will not be able to find the latest or most popular pieces (i.e. a black Chanel Classic Flap) on sale.
It is also worth mentioning that Chanel’s private sales can get quite competitive because the stock is limited.
Therefore, I recommended arriving early and being prepared to stand in line!
Unlike the hustle and bustle of the bi-annual sale, the private sale exudes an air of sophistication and discretion.

Tips for Shopping a Chanel Sale
- Create a wishlist. Take a look at last season’s inventory online, and make a mental (or physical) list of the pieces that catch your eye. Although each boutique’s inventory will vary, this will help you stay focused and not get overwhelmed by the available options.
- Arrive early. As mentioned earlier, the available sale stock is limited, so I recommend arriving early to get the best deals. Going to a Chanel sale is not a walk in the park. The sale may get crowded and competitive, so dress comfortably (but chic, of course).
- Check the items before purchasing. Since the products sold at Chanel private sales are from previous collections, I suggest checking items thoroughly before making a purchase. Look for any defects or damages before buying the product.
- Be prepared to make quick decisions. As mentioned before, Chanel private sales are competitive, and the stock is limited. You may not have too much time to think before purchasing. Be prepared to make quick decisions and grab what you like before someone else snags it!
