Do Luxury Goods Go On Sale?
A lingering question remains unanswered to many high-end enthusiasts and deal seekers: Do luxury brands have sales?
The answer is yes, luxury brands have sales – and more often than you think!
But traditionally, luxury brands have been known to never rarely discount.
By choosing to not participate in sales, luxury labels maintain the perception of exclusivity, desirability, and superior value amongst their clientele.
The lack of sales echo the brands’ commitment to maintaining a consistent, high pricing policy, reflecting the high investment in skilled labor, materials, and design innovation that goes into each creation.
However, I’ve found all the best luxury secret sales across the internet. Continue reading to find out where they are!
How to Get Discounts on Luxury Brands
I’ve sifted through the web to find the ultimate places where deals on luxury brands are not just dreams but reality.
While there are a plethora of online vendors offering designer discounts, some shine brighter than others.
Here, I present the cream of the crop, the discount emporiums renowned for their quality, assortment, and, of course, their ability to induce a serious case of ‘shopping euphoria.’
These sales are especially exceptional at the end of each season, in both December-January and May-June.
However, on these sites, you can find luxury brands discounted all year long!
Designer Clearance Outlets & E-commerce Sites
You’ll notice that there’s a mix of European and American outlets and e-commerce sites below.
I’ve included European outlets for the following reason: designer brands tend to be cheaper in Europe compared to the US and Asia.
Because designer brands including Christian Louboutin, Saint Laurent, and Gucci (just to name a few) are European, the proximity to their production facilities in Europe results in lower transportation and importation costs.
Not to mention, these brands’ pricing strategies consider local market conditions, including competition, demand, and purchasing power.
All these third-party retailers below are authorized and licensed to sell brand-name products, so have comfort in knowing that authenticity is guaranteed.
Best Discount Designer Websites:
- Cettire
- SSENSE
- The Outnet
- Gilt
- Italist
- Yoox
- Mytheresa
- 24S
- Luisaviaroma
- Farfetch
- Baltini
- Giglio.com
- Rue La La
- Shop Premium Outlets
- Nordstrom’s Private Designer Sale
- Saks OFF 5TH
- Nordstrom Rack
- TJ Maxx
*Please don’t forget to double-check these retailers’ return policies, as some discounted items may be final sale.*
Important side note: don’t be shy about purchasing off-season!
A winter coat purchased in the spring, or a swimsuit bought in the fall, can yield savings of up to 70% off.
I tend to do some of my best shopping in the opposite season!
This approach requires a forward-thinking perspective, but it’s a strategy that rewards unparalleled deals on designer items.

Designer Semi-Annual & End-of-Season Sales
Whether you’re a veteran luxury shopper or a newbie deal hunter, you may have noticed that most luxury brands prefer to keep their inventory at full price for much of the year.
Although it’s pretty hush-hush (IYKYK), designer boutiques typically put on two sales a year, one at the end of each season.
These end-of-season sales take place in both December/January and May/June. Exact dates will vary from brand to brand.
Designers’ classic styles and collections rarely never go on sale, but they tend to discount a good portion of their seasonal items unless they are being carried over into the next season.
Some designers known to participate in these end-of-season sales include Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Fendi, and Burberry – just to name a few.
Following suit, high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, and Bergdorf Goodman will put seasonal merchandise on sale as well.
Not to mention, the list of e-commerce sites a few paragraphs above also hold these end-of-season sales.
Simply put, the end-of-season sales are hands down the best! You can find designer goods heavily discounted – commonly up to 70% off!
It’s important to note that these sales are not heavily advertised – and you certainly don’t want to miss the next sale!

Designer Private Sales
Did you know that some designers also hold private sales in addition to semi-annual or end-of-season sales?
Designer private sales, or as the elite circles like to call them, “invitation-only sales,” are like the VIP club of the shopping world.
It’s where the magic happens, behind closed doors, and with an exclusive guest list.
Imagine receiving a golden ticket, not to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, but to a wonderland where luxury items are waiting just for you, perhaps with a glass of champagne in hand.
But that’s just it – you need to be a VIP (aka a big spender) in order to be invited to these private sales.
Chanel is one of many brands that holds private sales annually.
For VIPs, these events are not just shopping experiences; they’re social gatherings where the air is buzzing not just with whispered deals but with the excitement of belonging to a select group.
Here, amidst the soft sounds of live music or the quiet hum of privileged conversation, you might find that handbag you’ve been eyeing, but with a friendly nod towards your wallet.
It’s less about slashing prices and more about rewarding loyalty, a celebration of the special bond between the brand and its most cherished patrons.

Do Luxury Brands Have Black Friday Sales?
By choosing to rarely have sales, luxury brands create a sense of urgency and exclusivity for their products, making them even more desirable.
Unfortunately, many designer and luxury brands do not directly participate in Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales and promotions.
By rarely offering discounts, these brands ensure that customers are paying for the superior quality and design of their products, rather than just a name or label.
But wait – third-party retailers (such as the ones listed above) may offer Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday promotions on designer and luxury items. It all depends on the retailer and what’s available.

Designer Sample Sales
Do you live in a city or a large metropolitan area?
Another way to score a deal on luxury goods is by shopping at sample sales. These sales typically take place in person and offer past-season styles at a discounted price.
Try searching for sample sales near you!
However, be prepared to fight for the shoes you want – sample sales are known to draw a huge crowd and the competition is fierce.
Wrapping Up – Do Luxury Brands Have Sales?
To sum it up, luxury brand sales might seem like a unicorn in the fashion world — rare and mystical.
But in reality, it’s more like a secret dance, elegant and subtle, between keeping things exclusive and making luxury lovers happy.
Sure, you might not get an email blast about a grand 50% off from the high-end world, but those in-the-know can spot opportunities to snag luxury for less — it’s all about being savvy and informed.
Cheers to the secret world of designer deals – I hope you find that coveted item you’ve been looking for.
Happy shopping!
